If your child loves underwater adventures, he'll be ecstatic when you throw him a Finding Nemo-themed birthday party.

Life under water is not as easy-breezy as it seems – just ask Nemo. In the Disney movie, Finding Nemo (2003), this little clownfish was put through the ringer. Not only was Nemo’s mom and siblings gobbled up by a barracuda, he was fish-napped by a scuba diver and carted away on a boat. Surely your tyke will feel luckier than Nemo with these cool Finding Nemo birthday party ideas.

Finding Nemo Birthday Party Dessert Ideas

Ocean Cake: Frost a cake with blue icing to look like the ocean. You can buy white frosting from the store and add a dab of blue food coloring to it. After the cake is frosted, fill two pastry bags – one with orange icing, and one with white icing, and use them to draw a picture of Nemo in the center of the cake.

Foaming Sea Jello: Make individual cups of blue Jello and put gummi fish inside of them. Top the Jello with whipped topping to represent sea foam. Stick a few gummi fish on top of the whipped topping.

Finding Nemo Birthday Party Decoration Ideas

Hang blue streamers or strips of blue cellophane from the ceiling to represent the sea. Draw Nemo and other sea creatures on cardstock, cut out the pictures, color them, and decorate them with glitter, rhinestones and other trinkets. When the cutouts dry, attach fishing line to them and suspend them from the ceiling.

Draw and color pictures of Nemo and other sea life on a blue bed sheet, and drape it over the party table. Sprinkle silver confetti over the table to add a little sparkle. Cover the walls in the party area with light blue butcher paper. Hang decorated cutouts of marine life on the butcher-paper covered walls.

Finding Nemo Themed Party Game Idea

Fishing for Goodie Bags: Get a large appliance box and paint it blue. Use a box cutter to cut a large opening (big enough for a person to fit) in the back. Decorate the outside of the painted box with cutouts of sea life. To make the fishing rod, tie a large paper clip to the end of a four-foot long piece of fishing line or yarn. Attach the line to the end of a stick.

During the party, kids can fling the makeshift fishing rod into the box to fish for goodies. When a child throws the fishing line in the box, the person sitting inside will attach a small bag of goodies to the paper clip and then tug. When the child feels the tug, he can pull the line out and retrieve the goodie bag.

Your child’s Finding Nemo birthday party won’t deliver the same action-packed danger as the movie, but the fishy food, games and decorations will give him a rush just the same.
